  • How many dance lessons do we need?
In general, that depends on what you’re looking for. If you are a couple wanting our simple and elegant package, the dance will go for approximately 1 and a half minutes long. I’d suggest 2-3 one-hour lessons. If you’re a couple who want to have a more choreographed routine that lasts up to 2 minutes long, I’d suggest 3-6 one-hour lessons. Couples wanting a mash-up of songs lasting longer than 2 minutes (and have a lot of time until your magical day), you’d be better equipped with 6 or more one-hour lessons. If you’re unsure what you’re looking for, contact us, and we can discuss your goals and options.
  • When is it best to start wedding dance lessons?
In short, the sooner, the better. Especially depending on the type of dance you’re wanting. For our “simple and elegant” package, a 3-4 month timeframe is ideal. Remembering that the last few weeks leading up to the wedding can be hectic with last-minute requirements. If you’re wanting the “showstopper” package or a longer routine, it would be best to start lessons 6-8 months before the big day. This allows for a stress-free timeframe to learn a more advanced routine and feel comfortable with your skills. The biggest mistake couples make is starting lessons too close to their wedding date. This unfortunately means that some couples aren’t able to achieve their specific goals or visions. The closer the wedding date gets, the busier your schedule gets, which means less time for lessons and practice. However, if you’ve left it last minute, do not fret! You can still book a one-hour private lesson (or as many as you’re able to) to learn the basics of a dance and look confident on the dance floor. Depending on your work and personal lifestyle, you can have lessons as often or as spread out as you’d like - weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. So it’s good to take into account your lifestyle and how often you can have lessons. This may impact your decision for the type of routine you’d like to do and the timeframe you have available to yourselves.
  • How long should our dance be?
A wedding dance should ideally be between 1.5 - 2.5 minutes long; any shorter, and it will be completed in the blink of an eye.
  • Do we need dance experience?
No, not at all! The aim for your wedding dance is to connect with your partner and share a long-lasting memory. Regardless of your abilities, I’ll be able to teach you a routine that suits your skill level. Everyone can learn the basics, even those with “two left feet.”
  • What style of dance should we choose?
The style of dance depends on the music/song you choose and your overall vision for your dance. Once you have chosen the music/song, I can help determine the style of dance best fitted to the music/song.
  • How much space do we need in our home for our dance lessons?
I’ve found that most dance floors are approximately 5 x 5 meters - so not very big! We can move some furniture in your home to make space, or use the backyard. Most homes can accommodate this space, even if jam-packed with furniture and children’s toys.
  • What if we want a routine that isn’t too difficult, fancy, or choreographed?
No problem at all! I’m experienced in teaching routines ranging from simple freestyling with a few steps in between to full pre-choreographed performances. Either way, you and your partner will develop confidence and poise on the dance floor. Not only will your guests be impressed, but your memories of dance lessons leading up to your special day will remain with you forever. Whatever you and your partner want, I can guarantee you’ll receive it. Either way, no matter how simple or elaborate, I can teach you and your partner a way to move on the dance floor without feeling like you have two left feet. Together we will create an unforgettable first dance based on your preferences.
